Pool Removal Geelong

Before a pool comes out in the City of Greater Geelong, the council wants to know. A pool stays on its register until the council is satisfied that it no longer exists or can no longer hold water deeper than 30 cm. Ask three things first. What does the council need from you? Who is doing the work, and under which registration? Where will the rubble and the pool water go?

Before you get a quote

Four things to know first

  • The council keeps the pool on its register until it is satisfied The Building and Plumbing Commission says you must tell your council the pool no longer exists or can no longer hold water deeper than 30 cm, and the council must be satisfied of that before it takes the pool off the register.
  • The City's permit page names installing a pool, not removing one The City of Greater Geelong's Asset Protection Permit page lists installing a pool among the works that need a permit and does not mention removing one. Ask the City whether your job needs one.
  • Breaking a concrete shell makes silica dust WorkSafe Victoria says effective dust controls, such as on-tool water suppression or on-tool dust extraction, need to be used when demolishing materials that contain crystalline silica, and concrete is one of them.
  • Wash-water is not for the stormwater drain EPA Victoria says everyone must prevent waste, wastewater included, from entering stormwater drains so far as reasonably practicable.

Three steps

From enquiry to quote

  1. Tell us about the pool The type, how a machine would reach the yard and what you want the ground to be afterwards.
  2. It is passed on Your enquiry goes to one independent local provider for Geelong. The provider pays for the introduction; you never do.
  3. A provider inspects and quotes The provider looks at the pool and the access and prices the work in writing. The price is theirs to set.

Pool Removal across the City of Greater Geelong

The City of Greater Geelong is, in its own words, one of the largest municipalities in Victoria, with urban, rural and coastal land. That matters for a pool hole because parts of the Bellarine Peninsula and the north are under flood and coastal inundation overlays, and a pool is removed by digging in the ground those overlays describe. Four suburb pages say what each source says for Barwon Heads, Portarlington, Moolap and Lara. The council side is on the council page.
